One of the hardest things about starting a blog is how simple it seems.

Blogs look like super easy ways to make money and while they can be great sources of revenue, certain things need to be done correctly to get that revenue rolling in. Not all newbies recognize this. There are lots of very basic things that get overlooked by new bloggers. It’s possible it is because they are simply anxious to get a jump start on things. Maybe this happens because they didn’t take the proper amount of time to really learn what they needed to be doing. Whatever the reason, here are some things that you need to make sure you take care of when you’re just starting out with a blog.

Beginning with shared hosting is all fine and good but you shouldn’t try to force yourself to stay with it. It’s true that shared hosting is much more affordable but it puts you at the mercy both of the other site owners who share your server and the host itself. If they do something to cause your server to malfunction, your own site is going to go down too. While shared hosting (and there are some great shared hosting providers for you to choose from) is great for beginners, as soon as your blog begins to bring in revenue, you should invest it in a dedicated server that is all yours. Your site will thank you and your readers will too.

Every new blogger is obsessed with his or her stats. Number checking really is its own kind of addiction. Everybody gets caught up in how many people visit your site, how they got there and how long they spend on your site. All the same, it really is not the most productive use of your time. Each and every minute that you spend looking at your statistics is time that you should be spending on more important projects for your blog. It is much better to check out your stats once a week or (better) once per month.

It’s best that you do not let yourself become worn down.

Amazing blog success never happens over night. It doesn’t matter what anybody says to you, you cannot put a blog up one night and then be hundreds of dollars richer by the next night. This is the truth for every website that gets created. It’s impossible to make a fortune by not doing anything. The idea that this is even possible is a lie that was made up by people who are hoping that you will send your money to them. You need to be ready to put in real work on a regular basis. Wait patiently. Be persistent. Even if you start to get bored, keep going. In the end the hard work that you put in to your blog really will pay off.

Marketing on the web with a blog are both challenging for any newbie and many more experienced people. So get your own domain and hosting so you will at least not appear to be a rank amateur.

It takes real work and effort to get these sites up and running smoothly. Also, there is an immense amount of information on the net about this topic, so continue to learn.
